Breast Cyst During Menopause – Could It Be A Cancer?
Middle aged women between the ages of thirty-five and fifty years, in other words, women who are approaching menopause seem to develop cysts around their breasts. Simply put, a cyst is nothing more than a sac, or a small lump, embedded in the breast tissue. When the lobule is filled with a kind of liquid, such as a lump is formed. These can occur in women of all ages, but they are usually appears in women between the age groups above.
In women belonging to such an age group, this cyst occurs particularly during the time when the woman’s menstrual period is approaching. Therefore, it may not be a gradual development of the cyst, and may appear overnight all of a sudden. Especially in women who take the Hormone Replacement Therapy or the HRT, they are most commonly prevalent.
However, it must not be misunderstood that all these cysts are fatal or cancer inducing. But it does lead to a blockade within the breast. A woman may have many cysts, and if at all any of these is developing into a cancer, they can be monitored on an ultrasound, and treated accordingly. Even the cysts that are not harmful can be removed. Many women prefer to get rid of them if they cause too much trouble and pain. Doing this is a simple process. It can by sucked out by merely inserting a needle.
Addressing the question of what exactly causes this cyst is a complicated process, for there is no one reason or a set of reasons that can be pinned down. In pre-menopausal women, such occurrences are more, especially if they are on the Estrogen Replacement Therapy (ORT). Also, there may be more successful development of cysts in a woman who already has one.
However, no matter how small, breast cyst during menopause must be detected so that one may know whether they are cancer inducing or not. For this, a detection process has to be followed. This can be done by one’s own self if one knows what the symptoms of a breast cyst are.
First, as stated in the beginning, cysts are sac like structures filled with a liquid. They can vary in size and are generally difficult. This can cause a lot of pain. Sizes range from such lumps the size of a pinhead to that of a walnut. Although larger cysts are easier to detect, the little ones should be brought to notice. They can easily be identified because they move when touched.
